About the Hike
Join the Inclusive Trail Trekkers, a hike series led by the Rainbow Routes Association and L' Arche Sudbury Inc. Our hikes aim to create inclusive experiences on local trails and walkways, promoting accessible outdoor recreation opportunities.
Our next hike in the series takes us to the Gerry Montpellier Trail. Join us on this beautiful trail in Chelmsford that showcases numerous benches, bridges and lighting along the trial. There will be frequent stops on this hike.

Trail Ready: Volunteer Information Session with Angela Miller-Bruce
Are you interested in learning about how you can be a trail steward, hike helper, or non-profit hero with Rainbow Routes Association? Rainbow Routes Association relies on a team of dedicated and talented volunteers to help with our hikes, events, and maintaining our trail network.
We are delighted to have outdoor adventure leadership educator, Angela Miller-Bruce host a volunteer information session to share how community members of all ages can get involved with Rainbow Routes. Volunteering on the trails and with Rainbow Routes is a wonderful opportunity to get outside, meet new people, and help out in the community. Angela will give us the rundown of what types of volunteer opportunities exist within the organization and how you can help, along with what each opportunity entails.

Climate Resilient Neighbourhood Walk with Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury
About the Event
This event is a collaboration between Rainbow Routes and Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury and is in association with CLS's climate resilient community event which will be hosted at the Main Library immediately after the walk. After the walk, you are invited to join us for Neighbourhoods for Nature, Caring Communities: Taking action together to prepare our families, homes and neighbourhoods for climate change, on until 3pm, at the Main Library. English Conversations on the Trail - Junction Creek Waterway Park Regent - November 29th
Join us on Saturday, November 29th for English Conversations on the Trail. This hike is in collaboration with the Greater Sudbury Public Library.
A very special English Conversations on the Trail will be hosted by hike leader T.J. Laplante as he takes the group from Regent St. to downtown using the Junction Creek Waterway Park trail. This is a special hike celebrating and recognizing the completion of the new 2025 edition of the Rainbow Routes Map, as well as the beautiful new art and signage at the Regent St. trailhead. Both projects are funded by a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. We are delighted to have some special guests joining pre-hike to say a few words.
We will be celebrating with a post-hike social at a downtown cafe TBD.

Kivi Park Hike with Myfawny Mcintosh
Members, have you used up your single day use pass for Kivi Park yet? If not, we'd love for you to join us out on the trails, on December 13, 2025 at Kivi Park. Hike Leader and urban poling instructor, Myfawny McIntosh, will lead us along the 3K walk in beautiful Kivi Park. While out on the trail, we will be engaging in urban poling, a form of Nordic walking. Both experienced and new participants are welcome.
*Urban poles will be provided upon request to individuals 10 and above. Please indicate below if you will require them at least 48 hours prior to hike.
**All visitors and guests to Kivi Park are required to have a Kivi Park Pass to enter Kivi Park property. Please make sure you use your single day use passcode or purchase tickets before arriving to the event. You will need to show your pass on your mobile, printed or be wearing your annual members badge**

About the Hike
Join us, as we hike along the beautiful Laurentian Loop in Lake Laurentian Conservation Area. Take in the scenic views and get your heart pumping as we hike around Lake Laurentian. This hike is perfect, for hikers that enjoy a fast pace and minimal stops along the route. Due to the difficulty level and type of hike, we are asking that hikers are 12 years of age and above.

Trail Maintenance Training with Erik Barr - Registration FULL

Join Erik Barr as he takes us out on the the trails at the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area and shows us how to safely perform trail maintenance. Topics include basic tools and using them safely, Deadfall Removal, Installation of Trail Markers, and when to contact the City of Greater Sudbury at 311 for their trail maintenance crew to arrive.

Come join us on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Delki Dozzi path and food forest for a Harvest Hike hosted by Ellie Ferguson in collaboration with Sudbury Shared Harvest. Enjoy a gentle walk along Delki Dozzi path as well as a tour of the Delki Dozzi food forest. Ellie will discuss what is grown at the community garden, the beauty of food forests and community gardening, harvest times for different fruits and vegetables, and some gardening tips for growing your own food.

Led by an experienced hiker, different trails are selected for each hike to help you discover Greater Sudbury's trail network. About the Hike
It’s that time again for the annual Thanksgiving Walk in the Minnow Lake Oak Forest, a joint event between Rainbow Routes and the Minnow Lake Restoration Group. The popular 2 km hike is an enjoyable way to wrap up Thanksgiving weekend with impressive lookouts and autumn colours. The pace is relaxing and families are welcome

Come join us on Saturday September 27th, 2025 in Onaping Falls at A.Y. Jackson Trail. We will be hiking along a gentle segment of the route, enjoying the stunning autumnal colours along the path that arrive in late September. This hike is in association with the Lion's Club Cavalcade of Colours event occurring the same weekend at the Dowling Leisure Centre. Both experienced and new participants are welcome.

When: Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 11:30 to 2:00. (Generally, all of Rainbow Routes’ hike events are 2 to 2.5 hours).
Meeting place: Parking lot 500 m North of A.Y. Jackson Welcome Centre. Sandy empty area without signage. Please note we will not be meeting at the A.Y. Jackson Welcome Centre, but 500m further down Hwy 144. Please see below map.
Parking: Parking for approximately 20 vehicles is available at the meeting location. Please note this lot is sandy, and depending on weather conditions can be somewhat muddy.
Trail: A.Y. Jackson / Onaping High Falls Trail
Trail Surface: Forest path, stairs, bridge, some rocky areas.

2025 Sudbury Camino - August 16th, 2025
The 2024 Sudbury Camino is a FREE event that gives you the unique opportunity to explore the Trans Canada Trail and Rainbow Routes that run through the City of Greater Sudbury. Whether you're looking to challenge yourself, explore our community, or just enjoy local natural surroundings, the Sudbury Camino is an incredible experience that everyone can enjoy.
Hike Club
Join the Hike Club for our August outing with a theme on the Sudbury Regreening Programme. This hike, led by the Rainbow Routes Association in conjunction with VETAC (Sudbury’s Regreening Advisory Panel), highlights the transition of Coniston into a green community with 50 years of landscape regreening.
Come join us on Saturday August 2, 2025 as we explore the Jane Goodall Reclamation Trail, the old Coniston Cemetery and Jean-Tellier Trail. Expect to hear about how the Sudbury Regreening Programme operates, as well as looking at the landscape outcomes.
Following the hike there will be a social get together at the Colonial Inn in Coniston, a historical landmark. Lunch will be available for purchase. To help staffing at the Inn the please indicate your attendance on the registration form.

Littlest Wildlife Nature Walk
About the Hike
Join us for an interactive exploration of the Laurentian University greenspace! Discover the bee hotels and insects living in the LU greenspace, and learn about the bee research taking place there. Led by LU entomologist and bee researcher Dr. Mateus Pepinelli.
In collaboration with Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury and the LU Environmental Sustainability Committee.

This event is to:
- Help community members who want to learn how to volunteer with Rainbow Routes Hike events

- Brush up on any past hike leader training you may have received with Hike Ontario, or other organizations

Come join us on Saturday July 26, 2025 as we continue our training for the 2025 Camino. We will be hiking along the Bell Park Boardwalk. While out on the trail, we will be engaging in urban poling, a form of Nordic walking. Both experienced and new participants are welcome. This hike will be led by Myfawny McIntosh, who will be providing instructions on proper poling techniques.

Blueberry Hill Hike
About the Hike
Get ready to explore Sudbury’s scenic beauty and celebrate its wild blueberry heritage with us! Join the Rainbow Routes Association and the AMLC- Autumnwood Mature Lifestyle Communities for a delightful hike up Blueberry Hill. This trail offers not only a chance to enjoy panoramic views of Minnow and Ramsey Lake but also an opportunity to indulge in the lush blueberry picking patches along the way.

Meeting Point: Blueberry Hill trailhead in the parking area located at the back left corner of the Carmicheal Arena parking lot

About The Hike
Enjoy walking through one of the beautiful trails Rainbow Routes has to offer. This trail is alongside Kelly Lake and runs from Fielding Park to Southview Drive, there are some very pretty views, lots of trees, many ups and downs and some cool boardwalks.

About the Hike
Rainbow Routes is in partnership with the Laurentian's Environmental Sustainability Committee for a special evening walk under the stars and planets. Join us for a Planetarium show at the Doran Planetarium at Laurentian University's Fraser building, followed by a walk under the stars to the Living with Lakes Centre, as we observe Venus and Mercury in the night sky!
Please consider bringing a non-perishable food item to donate to Laurentian University's Student Food Bank.

Trail Care Day – Join Us in Giving Back to the Trails
Join us on Saturday, June 14 for a hands-on trail care event, supported by Trans Canada Trail. We're teaming up with the Junction Creek Stewardship Committee to help keep Sudbury’s trails clean and beautiful.
Parking is available at the Greater Sudbury Utility across Regent Street and the St Francis Elementary School parking lot (691 Lilac Street).

English Conversations on the Trail
About the Hike
We will host our English Conversations on the Trails, welcoming all newcomers, those who speak English as a second language and all trail users who want to help welcome new friends. Come join us on Saturday April 12, 2025 to explore the Rotary Park Trail. While out on the trails, we will be engaging in urban poling, a form of Nordic walking. Both experienced and new participants are welcome. This hike will be led by Myfawny McIntosh, who will be providing instructions on proper poling techniques.
*Urban poles will be provided upon request. Please indicate below if you will require them at least 48 hours prior to hike.
