2026 - Projects for Rainbow Routes
Tales on the Trail Project
Together Rainbow Routes Association and Lake Laurentian Conservation Area are hoping to bring Tales on the Trails to the Chickadee loop at the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area. This initiative will combine story telling with the great outdoors. With support of donors like you, we can bring this vision to life. To learn more or to contribute, please reach out to us at rainbowroutesinfo@gmail.com.
2027 Map Reprint
2025 was a great year for us as we were proud to provide our community with a free trail guide to over 40 trails across Greater Sudbury. In 2027, we are hoping to provide you with information to even more trails that can be found in our beautiful city. In order to keep the trail guide at no charge, we rely on ongoing donor support. Please consider donating to support the production of our free trail guides, helping us keep our trails welcoming and accessible to everyone. Please reach out to us at rainbowroutesinfo@gmail.com
Big Nickel Trail Restoration
One of our trails needs some care and attention. Our Big Nickel Trail at Dynamic Earth has experienced some erosion issues over the past year. This trail, offers unique learning opportunities about different metals and native trees found along the route. Its a great way to extend your visit after exploring Dynamic Earth.
Please consider making a donation to help us restore and maintain this trail for everyone to enjoy, reach out to us at rainbowroutesinfo@gmail.com.
Lake Laurentian Conservation Area Loop 2 Restoration
This year we are partnering with Lake Laurentian Conservation Area in order to complete some restoration work along Loop 2 in order to make your hiking experience even more enjoyable.

2025 - Projects for Rainbow Routes
Regent Street Crossing Project
We worked directly with Live Love Louder and Junction Creek Stewardship Committee to include trail head signage, trail map, directional signage and a beautiful interpretive art piece to help beautify the trail. Be sure to walk the Junction Creek Waterway Park to view the updates on the east side of Regent Street, heading downtown.
For more information on this project, please see our press release shared on November 26, 2025.
2025 Rainbow Routes Association Trail Map
We love when our fellow hikers can navigate our trails with ease! In 2025 Rainbow Routes Association was awarded the funds to update our existing 2015 map. Thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Rainbow Routes staff will update and produce not only a new physical printed map, but a digital map of our trails around the City of Greater Sudbury as well!
Thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for providing the funding for this exciting new project! We cannot wait for you to start planning your outdoor adventures with our new updated map!
For more information on this project, please see our press release shared on October 10, 2025.
Floating Boardwalk at Science North, along the Trans Canada Trail
Rainbow Routes Association is supporting Science North with the major project during the 2025 spring season. The Floating Boardwalk that passes on the Northeast side of the science centre is located on Ramsey Lake. The trail connector includes the Bell Park Walkway, to the Ramsey Lake Path, all of which are a part of the Trans Canada Trail. Thanks to the generous support of the Trans Canada Trail, we are able to help fund this major project.
