Join us for the Rainbow Routes April Hike Club Saturday, August 1, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. We’ll visit the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes shrine and the St. Nicholas Greenspace. These two hilltop retreats have strong historical ties to the French “Count” Frederic Romanet du Caillaud and offer breathtaking views of the city.
Hike Details
When: Saturday, August 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Please arrive 15 minutes early for registration)
Meeting Point: Frederick Street (entrance to the Grotto parking lot off Van Horne).
Trail: The Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes shrine and the St. Nicholas Greenspace
Length: 5 km
Duration: 2 - 2.5 hours
Hike Leaders: Paul Haynes
Terrain: Mix of streets, sidewalks, stairs and trails involving some climbing.
Dress Code: Comfortable hiking shoes recommended, and please dress for the weather. Bring water
Hike Type: This is a historical walk. We will be walking and stopping to learn about the historical ties to the French “Count” Frederic Romanet du Caillaud
Transit passengers: From main bus terminal, walk one block east to Paris, then south on Paris 2 blocks to Van Horne, then east on Van Horne to the Grotto entrance.
