Become a Hike Leader!

We are currently seeking new hike leaders!

Leading hikes is a rewarding opportunity like no other!

As an RRA hike leader you are not just that person at the front of the group who knows the way, but also the person helping to create a fun and interesting outdoor experience that will encourage others to get active outdoors and connect with other likeminded people in their community.

This role will build on your passion for exploring urban and/or wilderness trails, giving you the opportunity to share your favourite routes and local knowledge and engage in interesting conversations with new people.

The RRA guided hikes are 100% volunteer led by community members, and we are always looking for new recruits to join the team. Our hike leaders share common goals, but bring their own unique hike leader style to the role. As a hike leader, you will develop leadership skills while independently, or in collaboration with RRA staff, you plan and lead interesting hikes in your community. You will choose routes on trails, in urban locations, in one of the outlying areas, or in some combination of any or all of those! You will also be free to choose a particular focus or population for your hike: whether it's just simply enjoying natural surroundings, discovering sites of historical, cultural or artistic significance, or perhaps you like to walk with particular populations such as young families, or a more athletic crowd, or maybe you like to walk about with seniors.

The choices are endless, and they are all yours to make! If you have an idea, we'll work to help make it happen.

With the training and support you will receive from RRA staff, you'll grow your confidence in being able to provide safe, environmentally responsible, and enjoyalbe hikes for all participants.
